wait..wait...Jack was 18?!

I just did some maths...:)
Jack Wild was 18 when this was filmed?!
holy crap he looks extremely young for his age
i thought he was..10/11/12 somewhere in that age range..

reply

Yep, he was that old. He looked very young for his age.

reply

I thought he was about 16 or 17-ish depending on how long it took them to make the movie and when they started.

Yeah he looked a lot younger than he was.
I think he got tired of always being cast as children when he was really an adult.

Pied Piper

I think it wasn't until The 14 that he was cast the right age.

And we thought 90210 and Grease were the first to use actors who were way older than their characters.

reply

He had a young looking face, even later on when he was very ill, his face still looked fairly young

reply

Well apparently the movie started filming in January 1970 and the film was released in May of the same year. Jack would have still been seventeen as his eighteenth birthday wouldn't have been until September 30th.

I just turned 51 (yup, I was eight when this came out). Never saw the movie, but watched the TV show every week. I do not look my age, never did. Just WAIT until I try to get senior benefits in 15 years!

You're only young once but you can be immature all of your life!

The HR Pufnstuf 1969 the TV series hired Jack Wild after the huge hit movie Oliver..he was in that movie 15...he was 18 when he was hired...the producers then did not care...they wanted the preteens to watch the show...they wanted an adult to play the role Jimmy that looked like a child...so they did not have to worry about stopping for school events...he was 19 when he did the movie Pufnstuf...the show was cancel because he walked off the set...he wanted to go into music career which he did...then he play another 12 year old in the movie Melody 1971.

I would have never guessed he was 18 when he filmed this. He looked like Michael Jackson in those wet hair scenes.
