Why does Witchiepoo always want the flute?

My kids want to know why the witch needs a gold flute when she has a magic wand and can get anything she wants --??

What I never understood was the big deal about the fact that it talks. Everything on the damn island talks.

The clue is "diamonds", and lots of 'em......

I think the Movie said that she wanted it to win Witchiest witch of the year, She thought it would help her win. It was a magic golden flute with diamonds and other precious stones. When she first saw it, Freddie and Jimmy werent on living island. Even on living island Gold and jewels are worth something.

Yeah, it is in the scene where she is on the phone with "Witch Hazel" played by Cass Elliot AKA Mama Cass. I'm watching it right now on ThisTV which is a real cheaply run channel that pretty much only plays reruns and old movies. Later on today they are going to air Munsters Go Home. It is like the cheesiest channel.

When. Jimmy found and played the Gold & Diamond flute, it whisked him away to "Pufnstuff" land.
If Witchy could get a hold of it, she could use her evil magic to get into and control the Real World.
That's what I remember, I think.

Edit:
The flute was laying on the ground. So, maybe it was a "lure" to get Jimmy/Anybody to pick it up and help the
Idiot Sheriff, H.R. Pufnstuff help save Stuffville.
I only saw it once or twice. I was 13, but I saw Oliver! with every school/church trip there was that year.
I wanted to see the Artful Dodger, but the Sat. Morn. shows were getting really stupid by then.

Because she wants to show it at the witch's convection, I think she was planning to sell it
