Inspiration for BBC Sherlock

As show writers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have repeatedly stated, their version of the 2010 BBC series owes a lot to this film.
Certain lines are directly lifted and used in the modern show. The gay joke between Holmes and Watson was lighthearted and silly, unlike the almost rabid obsession today to get them together.
However, the movie is almost a self aware parody which I don't think will translate well on the continuing series of Sherlock.
