Has anyone read the book?

I started reading it in high school and i thought that it was pretty good. I realized, when I looked for it outside of my school library, that it wasn't that popular. I think that the over all story is good, but the movie needs to be "tweeked" a little. There is a similar movie, El Crimen del Padre Amaro, it much more up to date an it has a "similar" storyline.
