Performance vs Don't Look Now

In a recent poll by Time Out magazine, Nic Roeg's 'Don't Look Now' topped the list of the 100 Greatest British Films. However, does anyone else agree that his collaboration with Donald Cammell on 'Performance' is actually the better of the two films?

I feel the quality of the film has often been disregarded, and focus placed primarily on the troubled production and controversy surrounding the content after its initial release. Yet the combination of both the films unique content and the technical elements involved in capturing Jagger and Fox 'achieving madness' is, in my opinion, worthy of as much praise as any of Roeg's other work.

I definitely prefer Don't Look Now, but Performance is a brilliant and groundbreaking film.

DLN is an ageless masterpiece. Performance is a dry run barely worth a glance; it's like Mohammed Atta without a box cutter.

"Don't Look Now" is certainly a strong film, but I do think "Performance" is a stronger film overall.

"It's just you and me now, sport"-Manhunter

No comparison. Although Performance is an interesting oddity, Don't Look Now is far superior on every level imaginable.

reply

The Man who Fell to Earth is superior to both IMO.

Performance is not even worth watching more than once.
