DVD ???

I guess I'll be the first to plead for this film to be released on DVD - hell-O! anyone?!?

reply

YES, but in an uncut version - I'll never forget the scene when the hairy Rasputin descends the stairs naked - somehow that was terrifying - did you see this version? I'm wondering if it was cut out later. I'm the guy who saw it at the sneak preview when I was 10, with his mother's prudish governess

Don't hold your breath waiting for a DVD release of this. While it's always possible -- it just ain't likely.

If you want to watch the movie again, it was released on the old Magnetic Video Corporation label in 1979. I have 2 legal pre-records of it. Not a bad movie, really. Doesn't date too badly, considering it's some 36 years old.

If you already knew it was released by Magnetic Video in '79 just ignore this post. If you didn't know -- know you do.

Being a rare video collector (I've got about 2,800 VHS tapes) I have accumulated some knowledge and THE PEOPLE NEXT DOOR was never re-released to video again by any other company and has been out-of-print since 1980.

Yes, the nudity was in the general release of the film. I have the old Magnetic tape and it's there for all (who want) to see. Avco Embassy released the film, for a while Columbia Pictures had the television rights-God knows who owns it now.

I grabbed a grey market off kultflixxx.org because I heard this movie was just crazy. I can see why it's sitting in obscurity, but its a shame, since its quite good!

No, you're not the first. I've been trying to find this film on tape over 25 years. I doubt it's available. At this point, I'd settle for a copy of it taped by someone on VHS.

I really would like to hear the soundtrack again.

If you have any info, please let me know.

Thanks!
