Is this a movie?

No way, I thought it was a documentary on morons from Ohio travelling to the big bad city!

Wow, some geniuses posting here were insulted about my little rant about this crappy movie (not many laughs at all no matter what city they were in) and felt they had to tell me "it's only a movie." One even gave me a "reality check." Wow, maybe they are all from Ohio, like the morons in the film? I got bored with it and deleted the whole thing. "It's a movie!" No fooling! One actually thought it showed the "truth about NYC." He was definitely born in the back of some bus or on a tractor!

So in reply to all the mensa members....it's only an opinion. Don't allow what I say to get to you. It's really not that big of a deal.

If anything, forget people from New York City like myself, the people from Ohio are the ones who should really be pissed off. After all, the film makes people from Ohio (and indirectly, all hick states) look like total complete fools without a single trace of common sense. So forget about me. But the hicks will probably say, "yeah, that's pretty accurate!"

Whatever.

this movie is way too funny, just watched it on TV... you are a friggin tard, and your sarcastic paragraph sounds like someone trying really really hard to be clever and funny but failing horribly. I can just see you sitting at the computer watching this movie with a brain-dead look, drooling out of the corner of your mouth... then after a whole 3 minutes lacking flashy colors and cartoon animals who speak, slamming the keyboard and going GAAAAAAH HIIILLBILLY. You probably assume anything without rubber monsters fighting in a miniature city, is a documentary.

And also Jack Lemmon is the furthest thing from a hick I can think of. Sit on your tower, and take your NYC and the horse it rode in on, stand up momentarily so you can shove NYC and the horse both in your ass, then sit back down... but sit back down with enough force to shove the tower up your ass as well. pwned

Stevenfall...

You're too funny. You're one of those guys who lives among the great libraries, museums, art exhibits and colleges but hasn't been near any of them. All that culture, all that knowledge and you just have that dumb New York attitude to show for it.

I think you didn't "delete" the movie. I think you watched the whole thing and saw your very familiar companions self-absorbed in routine incompetency, and that passed for normal in your world.

I think you watched that final scene when George and Gwen recount the horrors of how inhuman your city is, and you went apoplectic. "How could they say my city is bad? This is the greatest city in the world!"

Pretty much, NY is, but so many of your fellow New Yorkers are rude dumbasses.

I happen to really enjoy this movie and am from NYC, and don't have anything like that boobish attitude above. We all have a right to our own opinions, but it is amazing how much bad attitude and meaness has to be included along with that in these postings.

So as I am not into putting down where people come from, this is not what this board is about, I would appreciate if people could stop putting NYC down. There is good and bad everywhere --- no exception!

Joeann,

So what's your take on the movie, specifically, on the initial post of, "Is this a movie?" If that's not interesting to you, tell us what you liked or disliked. If you have no take other than you liked the movie, that's fine.

There's no hostility here, unless someone fires a salvo, and even then, as you say, people are entitled to voice their opinions.

Also, since opinions vary, what's a food fight w/o that first pie in the face?

I actually cant believe i read all that! i feel sorry for the guy who just didnt get the film, he obviously has a different if at all present sense of humour. I am english and thought it was hilarious but equally find films portraying my area that aren't flattering to be funny most of the time as well. I think what we are dealing with here is either someone who is ever so loyal to their city or a pompous ass who doesnt want to believe bad things happen where he lives-either way i would put this film as one of my top 5 comedies.

I can't believe you all are getting so worked up over his comments. I don't think this movie makes people from any particular area look bad, but it isn't all that funny and Lemmon's character really is obnoxious...he's having a day from hell, but strikes me as the kind of guy who spends his life giving other people days from hell, and I don't have much sympathy for him. Steven's entitled to his opinion, and it's not all that offensive. It's the rest of you who need to lighten up. I wouldn't go so far as to call this crappy, but if it weren't for some clever writing, this would be a pretty average movie. It seems to me that anyone who would put this among their favorite comedies could benefit from getting out a little more.

I was born in, and live in, New York City, and I love this movie. I try to catch it whenever it's on, which is not nearly enough. Great New York locations. And, I like looking at the cars of the late 1960's, many of which are seen in this movie. Unfortunately, Jack Lemmon, Sandy Dennis, Dolph Sweet, Graham Jarvis, Sandy Baron and Thalmus Rasulala are now deceased. Also, check out Mr. Baron here, a long time before he played the obnoxious Jack in Seinfeld.

BRING OUT SEASON THREE OF "ONCE AND AGAIN" ON DVD!
