Problem I have with the script

It's supposed to be about a privincial Ohio couple being chewed up and spit out by big city chaos. By Lemmon's character is as pushy, aggressive and assertive as the annoying New York stereotype the movie attempts to lampoon. With the threats and the chest-pounding and the name-taking ... somehow the whole thing would make more sense if the leads lived in a NYC suburb, not "foreigners" per se, but residents exposed to and tempted by the high-life, who in the end resolve to quit it.

People never lock their doors in this town.
They will tonight.

-I- got the impression Neil Simon thinks no Ohioian (or anyone else who lives more than 100 miles from NYC) knows how to travel for business and deal with the attendant mishaps. Much of what happens to George and Gwen could happen in other U.S. Business Traveler Black Holes, such as O'Hare or Atlanta. It's not pecular to NY.

And when have cab drivers in NYC -ever- gone out on strike? It will never happen.

Don't forget, that this is just a movie and also not a true-story movie!
