What was the purpose of the zombie monk? He wasnt a vampire, and he didnt come up later in the movie.

I imagine he was probably the Satanic monk that assisted the Countess
back in 1480.

Oh ya! I saw this stinker last night and I completely forgot about the monk… that just goes to show any one how forgettable this film was.

That creepy slow-motion movement of the monk immediately made me think of Amando de Ossorio's "Tombs Of The Blind Dead", which came out a year later.
