About time for a remake I think...

I'm surprised Hollywood hasnt jumped on this one already but its about time for a remake.

I recently found myself watching the film and found it enjoyable but VERY dated... VERY, VERY dated.

The editing in the film is... Well its jumpy and the cuts dont make much sense leaving you feeling a little disorientated but the story is a solid one and with the popularity of apocalyptic disaster style films at the moment I can see no reason why "No Blades of Grass" couldnt be remade for a modern audience.

Just get rid of the needless pollution shots which run throughout the film, I found myself screaming at the screen

"I GET IT, IT'S HUMANITIES FAULT..."

If Hollywood does pick it up PLEASE keep the British setting, it was nice to hear some Yorkshire accents.

"Too bad she wont live... But then again who does?"

I just watched this one today, and I strongly agree. There is much to admire about this film, considering it was one of the very FIRST ecological disaster films to come out so close to the inauguration of "Earth Day."

Yes, there's a lot that should be done differently, but I agree it is high time for someone to re-introduce this great story to a new generation. And I think it is so amazingly sad that I just found out through a Google search that the author of the novel, The Death of Grass, Samuel Youd (writing under his more famous pseudonym John Christopher) died just last week (February 3, 2012). And Disney already has the rights to film his Tripods trilogy, which were three of the best SF novels I read as a small boy.

I don't care if the original is dated, its still better than any remake could hope to be. You only have to look at the travesty the BBC made of 'Survivors' to appreciate this. A 'No Blade Of Glass' remake would probably have a tacked-on happy ending with all the characters laughing as they drink a toast to the future, therby losing the power of the original. The anti pollution message is still relevant in light of climate change.

Quentin Tarantino needs to make an update of this. It could be COVID out of control now. And imagine how kick-ass the killing of the bikers would be under his direction!
