According to Hunter Thompson's "Hell's Angels," Sonny Barger, head of the Oakland chapter of the Hell's Angels, offered his group's services to then president LBJ. He said they could be dropped behind enemy lines in 'Nam and kick the entire NVA's ass.

In Sonny's book "Hell's Angel" he goes on record to say Hunter made most of his stuff up. In fact, Sonny shows a lot of distain for Hunter.
