greatest film ever made!!

This film is hated because it tells the truth about Hollywood, the socalled American dream, and the battle of the sexes (which becomes more acrimonious every day). Mike Sarne said it would take people at least 20 years to understand his masterpiece. 30+ years on, people are still so stupid they don't get it. Mike Sarne suffered so much critical abuse for Myra he swore he'd never make another film. A shame. Anyone see his other brilliant film, Joanna? Wonderful performance from a young Donald Sutherland in that. Check it out. Mike Sarne not only told it like it was, he told it like it still is.

This is the greatest film ever made in Hollywood since Stroheim's masterpiece "Greed." Everything that has followed Myra has been straight downhill. Period.

Mike Sarne, the OM KID tips the hat to you. You are a great director.

Hey everybody! Let's sing the OM song!

Well, even if true, it would not take many.

I am sorry for ANYONE who buys into this pretentious garbage. Mike Sarne deserved everything he got. There is just no excuse for making a film this bad and actually being PAID to do it.

If this is anyone's idea of good filmmaking, then they must watch it side by side with films like Plan 9 From Outer Space and Mommie Dearest.

Actually, the film is "hated" just because it is so clumsy in every respect. Only some camp freaks find any use for it. Sarne's own comment track on the DVD proves he's *still* clueless - and even you seem to read something serious into the film despite the fact Sarne meant it purely as a farce. And failed even at that.

No offense, but I'll take Vidal's word any day over Sarne's and yours.

reply

I disagree. I think Sarne's commentary is one of the best and most informative "director's commentaries" I have seen on DVDs in recent times. I thought it was fascinating. And yes, I loved the film so much that I watched it immediately afterwards with the commentary switched on.

Raquel's commentary on the other version is rather naff though, I'm afraid.

Re: "Just because it went over your head and you can't understand it don't get pissy with everybody else.
Now take your fingers out of your mouth little girl"

Wow, you sure have a pissy way of getting defensive about your guilty pleasures, don't you. Especially considering I had disagreed with someone _else_ who read way too much into something that even the director admits was intended as a farce and not as a serious social commentary on Hollywood.

BTW, "a camp freak" is not a derogatory title, just descriptive of a film buff's esoteric tastes. Don't fight it, embrace it.

This movie was so boring that it could not possibly induce such strong emotion as hate.

I don't think it's the greatest, but it's funny as hell. If only Raquel could have seduced Farrah...

reply

It is definately NOT the greatest film ever made... however it is ONE of the greatest... It's one of my favorites, and always will be... but lets not get carried away...

and for those that say its horrible... sure, everone has their likes and dislikes, but please be real... there are far more positive aspects to the film than not...

reply

Of course you're joking. Regardless of the film's "message," it was too atrociously written and acted even to be considered "camp."
