MB wasn't bad movie - this was protest against film censorship

I am amazed that people slag this film, they label it as bad, travesty, camp etc- but no one mentions "the enforcement of the Motion Picture Production Code" since 1932. The book and film Myra B. - people behind them should be very brave to stand up to established crude system and fight against it. I see this to be a beautiful act, I don't see bad movie.

Without this background information, this is a "bad" movie, just as any other experimental or surreal film is to a person who expects to watch regular Hollywood film. But this film is a Hollywood film - protesting against its hypocritical, conservative self imposed values. The side effect is a movie that crosses a line of good taste - just as any contemporary European movie crosses, especially New French realism films filled with random porn scenes.

Without an information about historic settings and facts this movie doesn't make sense:
Historic Fact 1 - only ten years ago, Psycho was almost banned because it included a short view of a toilet bowl. This must be frustrating to well known and established, influenced directors such as John Huston trying to make an art while in the same time, like a person with bad case of OCD trying to maniacally think of unimportant stuff to avoid them. This avoidance was probably very frustrating for them.
Historic Fact 2 - only 5 years before, song Louie, Louie was investigated by FBI on charges it includes porn text (even though it was based on already released 50s song with unchanged lyrics). So if someone wanted to write music before 1969, there was a chance to end up in jail just because of sexually explicit lyrics. For an artist this must be frustrating to indure. Well, Mae West herself was in jail because of this. I can understand her involvment in this film, I understand the rage against the system if you were thrown in jail for nothing.
Historic Fact 3 - America as a country was falling apart at the time. After Kennedy murder, crime, drugs and violence went up year by year, America was no longer safe and prosperous. New York plunged into crime and violence that lasted until 1990s. Just as Balkan countries after fall of communism, conservative politicians tried to keep people under control by inventing wars. Many Hollywood artist started to die because of drugs, that were becoming more widespread in USA. I guess person behind this book expressed his fears and frustrations in a form of controversial rape scene. He could express it differently, but just like Rachel's character said it herself, censorship hypocrits need to be shocked and attacked by talking about anal sex for example.

Taking all these facts in consideration, this is not a bad movie at all.
