Jack Palance was outstanding in this

Saw this film when it first came out when I was I child of nine in 1970. I had always thought Palance was a fine actor who played a lot of heavies and weirdoes, but they were always played well. You could always tell Palance was a pro.

However, he was so damn low key and fine in this film, and a played a downright great guy. I loved the way Green Bush says, in the hardware store, something to the effect of give us everything, and Palance says with a lowkey, unforced smile, I can't do that. Natural, not forced, believable and cool, but realistic. Yeah, Jack!

Agreed. Palance and Marvin had me cracking up. Jack always gave a good performance.

I've always loved Jack Palance, but, man, you see him in this, and he is so appealing as a good guy, it makes you wish he had played more parts like this.

Palance certainly had range but directors always did not give him the chance to show it off.

It's that man again!!
