Ending (*big spoiler*)

I liked it, possibly Pasolini's best movie with Salo.
It felt hypnotical, halucinating and Maria Callas is stunning.
However, what I don't get is:
Why did Pasolini show two versions of the death of Creon and Glauce?
This second sequence confused me.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

I suppose it has to do with Medea believing that she had the power to kill Glauce with her magical powers, but it was was GUILT that actually killed her.Don't forget that she has lost her powers after coming to a foreign land(in the movie at least). So, Glauce kills herself feeling guilty for the pain she has caused by stealing another woman's husband.

Hello William Hunt - wow! quite a lot of hoops to post a reply.

I think that the two endings reflect how action unfolds in the two different worlds in the film. In the mythical world (the world of the first centaur and the world in which Medea first operates) magic has power and Medea can call
on the sun to help her and Glauce is burned up. In the rational world, the world of Jason, Glauce has a crisis confronted with becoming Jason's next Medea (the image I think that she sees in the mirror) and kills herself.

Best, Rob
