I just bought this on dvd via Amazon. They have a "on-demand" dvd service. I will say it looks better than the crappy VHS I got on the cheap - but it's certainly not made from a master tape. But I really wanted to watch this again.
I remember watching this on TV, and the part that stuck in my mind was how it shows Sally eating food off a plate in an outdoor restaurant - and then her sister Lane does the exact same thing at the end of the movie! That is my major memory of this as an eleven year old. I think the parents are a bit one-dimensional and over-the-top, and by 1971, I would think the "hippie" lifestyle was winding down?

I would love to find out what Sally thought of doing this movie, and get an even BETTER copy of it.

I love Sally Field

She was indeed. This was as I remember it an early sign that she was quite a bit more than the sitcom actress so far seen.

I thought Sally Field was very good in this and also enjoyed the performance of Eleanor Parker who played her mother. They were both reunited a year later in another tv movie HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS - www.imdb.com/title/tt0068708/
