Roger Moore

Great actor, loved him in this film. I just got the DVD and really enjoyed it. It is a classic and I highly recomend it if you want to see Moore in a less cardboard role. Amazing story and good action sequences.

In what other films has Moore had convincing roles, and avoided playing himself as usual?

I'm italian but I think that Roger Moore had the leadership and great selfcontrol of England people. Can you suggest me other drama titles with R.Moore?

G-Ferruci, I assume you are familiar with the Bond films, but some other good films starring Sir Roger Moore are 'Gold', 'The Sea Wolves' and 'The Wild Geese'. 'Shout at the Devil' is good but rather too long. Sir Roger hasn't made many good films recently, but 'The Man Who Wouldn't Die' is worth watching.

The Naked Face is my proposal. Rather interesting plot and with great other actors (Steiger, Gould).

i think the man who haunted himself is his best performance that i've seen but you guys are hungry for other non-bond or saint type roles with him you should really check his quirky performance in the film "ffolkes" (or "north sea hijack" as its sometimes called) it's a thriller with him and james mason and anthony perkins and he's a lot of fun to watch in that, very not like his usual self in that.

Haha, had to laugh. He "played himself" here more than any film, if you know what I mean.
Yes, there was doubly more of Moore.

To be fair, none of the roles we've ever seen him in represent 'himself'.

Roger Moore was a cockney through and through, raised in Stockwell by working class parents, left his local state school at 14 - it was only later that he reinvented himself as a posh-speaking toff!

Hardly a "great actor", but he certainly was on top of his game here. Surprisingly effective.
