My favourite 'corny' quote

"Oh no" - Batiste as he falls to his knees, with a spear in the back and just moments before he dies.

Observation: The movie genre has changed and advanced over the decades. There is ample excuse in older movies for less advanced filming techniques, primitive special effects and even less sophisticated acting. But there has never existed an excuse for poor and corny dialogue.

Batise was so funny. I wonder what he looked like before he adopted the Indian way of life.

My name is Nathan.

reply

Batise, probably looked the same before he was taken prisoner by the Sioux .

As he explained to John Morgan about his odd way he spoke French, his father was French and his mother was a squaw from the Flathead Nation of indian tribes .

reply

Batise was actually Jean Gascon, director of the Canadian Opera Company and the Stratford Festival, where he staged(supposedly the first) professional North American productions of Shakespeare's "Pericles" & "Cymbeline". He remarked he made more money doing this bit part in a Hollywood movie than in his entire professional Canadian career.

reply

Funny someone should ask what he would look like before being captured. My money would be on being a double for Robin Williams.

I find that ducks opinion of me is very much influenced over whether or not i have bread.

reply

Gosh golly kevryl, I wonder what your last words would be. I'm sure they'd be brilliant!

reply

LOL!

reply

I guess he should've said, "They got me! the dirty rats got me", or something else more believable. Actually, "Oh, no..." sounds perfectly believable to me.

reply

I have checked out the transcript from the original incident, and "oh no" is exactly what was said...

Damn it was not considered proper in those years.

reply

Batiste did not seem the kind to make a grand exit.
It depends how you look at it. I remember doing Hamlet at school. Hamlet is almost more talkative after being mortally wounded than before, and I remember thinking, "Cut the chatter, hurry up and die."

"Chicken soup - with a *beep* straw."
