'heaven;y creatures' link?

a commenter in the comments section [ http://imdb.com/title/tt0066040/usercomments ] writes that this is a fictionalization of the murder that inspired peter jackson's "heavenly creatures." [ http://imdb.com/title/tt0110005/ ] anyone have any confirmation of this?

The movie's coming to DVD next week, and the early reviews I've read say there's a featurette in which a crime historian discusses the connection. The impression I get is the film's based on the Parker-Hulme murders to the same extent Rope is on Leopold-Loeb or Psycho on Ed Gein.

The reviews have me really excited about the film. It was banned in France for blasphemy, and never released in the US.

So, how is this film - have U had a chance to see it yet?
There's a also one called 'Alucarda' I just ordered that's very similar in plot, check it out!

I quite enjoyed it. Just don't watch it expecting a thriller or horror movie. It's more the touching story of two girls' friendship as they spend a summer together laising about the countryside. They just happen to be killer lesbian Catholic school girls.

And the ending is fantastic.

another film this reminded me of was "My Summer Of Love," although the menace in that film is much more subdued and simmers under the surface. The hazy summer days in the country vibe with two young girls hanging out together is very similar, though.
