George Segal's character, so unlikable

Love this movie, watching it now for the first time, but George Segal's character is a real louse. I've seen other films with similar subject material (Faces, Husbands, etc.), but I felt not one bit of sympathy for this man's plight. He has a bad attitude, treats everyone poorly, especially women (and his daughters). Treats other men badly. To enjoy a film even with a protagonist as unlikable as Segal's shows the expertise of the director.

Love seeing the 1970's locales, fashions. I was the little girls' age when the came out in 1970. :)

Yeah, he was a nasty guy. There are a couple scenes where I thought he might be put-upon, like with his neighbor, that pain in the a--, but Segal's character has a sense of entitlement like few Everyman characters I've seen. This guy thinks every woman, married or not, is his to do with as he pleases.

Life is like this, but I thought Eva Marie, already in her mid forties, looks better than every other girl on the film, and way better than the two he was cheating with.

Agreed, she sure looks gorgeous in this movie. Brooks sure is a total stupid jerk!
