Code Red Home Video has just re-released the Wild East DVD release of A LONG RIDE FROM HELL but with more Special Features and Extras than the previous Wild East DVD version. This release has a 15 minute interview with Steve Reeves himself that was shot on his ranch before his death in 2000 by members of the Italian Steve Revees Fan Club as well as a theatrical trailer of the film and photo & poster gallery with the only holdover from the Wild East video release being the one hour interview of Mimmo Palmera(Dick Palmera) co-star of A LONG RIDE FROM HELL and the film in a widescreen anamorphic digitally restored release version. Finally there are trailers from future Code Red DVD releases.

I just watched this great movie last night on DVD from the Steve Reeves collection and I really enjoyed it. If it weren't for the occasional dubbing mismatches here and there, and the too-high-pitched voice actor who dubbed Reeves' voice, and the absence of American actors other than Reeves, it would look exactly like an American Western. It is a lot like a Sam Peckinpah Western - gritty, violent and full of action. Good story.
I think Reeves could have easily done a half-dozen more Westerns into the 1970s like Clint Eastwood did, and could have easily made them in America with American studios. It's too bad he quit the business after this movie. He did very well with it.
We will be making a new digitally-remastered version of this in the near future.

The DVDs are very expensive. Inflated prices, I guess due to being out of circulation. Does anyone know where I can get one with a regular price?

reply

I will ask and see what I can find.
