Whats with comedy used in Westerns ?

seems so prevalent in Westerns from the late60s onwards to l.70s.
In many other-wise classic movies.

Why was it tried on here? spoiling what is an otherwise a totally new revisionist film look at Injun/Whitey

comedy is always awful in westerns as a tension-breaking device

is it used as a christian repreive from all the heavy killing , or what,

thoughts?

I'm an Atheist you dingbat. Some of the best westerns to come out of that era were comedies. But then of course you'd have to actually have a sense of humor to appreciate them. Anything else you feel you need to bitch about tonight Sally?

Its a stupid question. Comedy in westerns, oh my gawd this is terrible!

It was much needed comic relief from the Vietnam War dipstick, the western formula had been done to death, and the public at it up with great movies like Cat Ballou, Paint Your Wagon, Cheyenne Social Club, Rounders, Dirty Dingus McGee, and on and on. Sorry you don't get it, maybe you're the one with the problem?

You may as well ask why there is comedy in any movie genre.Humour is often used to make a serious point.
