Why is this film so underrated?

This is one of the weirder ratings I've seen on this website. A famous director, a great actor, a film that isn't formulaic or cliched (and has surprises in it), great camerawork, great acting, funny, individual. Alot of people have still given it 10 or 9 anyway. Watch it and enjoy it's humour.

Have you seen this? It's rubbish. It's not a film - it's an amateurish polemic. Boorman was experimenting with a format that's almost, but fails to be, Brechtian. The insertion of the voiceover at the beginning, using lines from TSE's 'The Waste Land' seems like a post-production rethink to give the movie some resonance, and fails badly. Boorman is an incredible move maker, but this seems like a bad attempt to recapitualte Lindsay ANderson's 'If', with Marcello M in the role of the rebel.
Worth seeing only to view the depths that a great director can sink to on his way to real and personal vision.
And has there ever been a worse soundtrack - oh lord!
