Uggh! I missed this on TCM. I used to have this on tape but got rid of it for some stupid reason. I hope they show it again so I can record it. Man I should pay more attention to the schedule!
sharei did tape it - and luckily left it rolling to see Bogdanovich's first, Targets, and then Bad Company as well. they were doing a night of director firsts.
but yeah, Ashby took his background in editing and did something great from his first film. for some reason i really love the shot from the beginning where he's running away from the guys with the tree - specifically the one where the camera is way back and static and you see an almost tiny Bridges run from the right to the left of the screen on the horizon.
i saw Being There, but that was so long ago i hardly remember any of it.
