HAHA! I just saw that video on Altered Zones and immediately after I went looking for this movie. That's a great music video, and the movie was sweet as well.

I guess you haven't seen this one then. This is the official video for "Round the Moon", a 2010 release by the British electropop duo Summer Camp. They remind me a lot of The Magnetic Fields, getting an emotional vibe from cheap, tinny synth sounds.

They also mimicked the typeface right-on, and did some very clever edits and reshuffling of scenes. I'm amazed the narrative holds together in this way.

Even more nice tributes:

Fan video for Pearl Jam's "Just Breathe", made by Berlin student collective Pretty Monkey Studio. Some very clever lip syncs:

Official video for "Lazy Eye" by the Silversun Pickups clearly recreates the movie's dance club setting, red colour scheme, glances and all:

So perhaps there's more than one telltale sign that the movie/DVD may at long last get a wider release and lose its cult status!?

There's also this one with Pearl Jam's Breathe. It's beautiful...it's perfect.

Tom Odell's video for "Grow Old With Me" is another tribute.

It doesn't use footage from the film, but is clearly inspired by it: the spinning record, the yellow titles, the family party outside, the club concert, the clothes, the tearful reconciliation at the tennis court etc.

Only this time, they had to cut out the smoking and changed the mopeds to bicycles!

Those are some pretty good ones, but this is my favorite, from the early 90's California band the Red House Painters. Bathes in the melancholy of love, imho.
