in spite of his goofy persona, he was an effective tank commander, the way he coordinated the attack on the Germans at the train station, also in the town.
shareWhat did he coordinate? The personnel at the train station were made up of infantry. They had no armour so three Sherman's even with a blind slow coach in command could have wiped it out and I was always under the impression it was Joe with the 'head for tactics' and Kelly leading the assault that accomplished the raid on Clermont.
