For his wife Ellen. You can feel her pain & desperation. Estelle Parsons always knocks it out of the ball park, imo.

I feel sorry for her yes, but I feel more sorry for Henry.

It does make me feel bad for the Sheriff, his wife and Tuesday Weld's character. None of them were bad people.
