Authentic, original, funny, passionate, cool. Maybe it's a little bit long, but it's like a loyal, irasicible, slightly drunk friend who loves and fights with the same fervor. It's also honest about middle class, mid life ennui in a way that only the combo of Falk, Gazzara, and Cassavetes could do. The acting between the three is flawless. And the wake scene, at the bar, well, that's worth the price of admission in of itself. It should be studied for its authenticity. 20 minutes of some of the most authentic film (in a scene all about living authentically, actually) that you'll ever see.
