Possible Remake In The Works

A friend of mine in the industry told me there is serious interest about remaking this film. Twentieth Century-Fox is looking at several drafts which are more faithful to the book the film is based on 'Aimee Come Home'.

It would appear the great appeal of re-making this is due to the fact that a lot of studio execs are fans of this 1970's ABC Movie of the Week!

From what I hear, it will be set in the original location, Washington D.C.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Remakes are never as good as the original.
Let's just get a dvd out, please.
Where are these wonderful ABC Movies Of The Week ?
Put them out on dvd, or at least run them on tv.
How about a special channel that runs only movies made for tv?

I have been wanting the same thing!! Some of those movies were just great! They are far above what they make for T.V. now.

A remake would be fantastic--TV movies are never as good as a feature film. And this one wasn't particularly close to the original source. A faithful adaptation of Ammie Come Home would be like a cross between The Exorcist and The Changeling--and spooky as anything.

I just got this movie on dvd today in a Horror Movie 8 pack titled "Haunted Hallows" at Fred Myers for $4.99

That would be great if they could remain faithful to the novel.

I came across this movie accidentally several years ago and enjoyed it (I am a great fan of Barbara Stanwyck), but I have always loved the novel. Although I liked the movie, I was disappointed at the deviations from the novel. The first time I read 'Ammie Come Home' I stayed up all night to finish it and I couldn't turn off the lights when I was done.

I think a remake of this might really work if they keep the special effects to a minimum. There is a lot of plotlines in this film that haven't been seen for a long time, like the Revolutionary War angle, the voice in the backyard, the hidden room in the basement, the oily black swirl that is the ghost.

I loved this when I first saw it in the 70's. It's actually one of the few films that actually scared me rather than just made me jump or gross me out.

But if it's turned into another Poltergeist or Haunting in Connecticut, they might as well save their money.

Subtlety works best with this type of ghost story. The supernatural should seep into the ordinary...not plop it out there like a rentboy.

I remember watching this movie when I was a kid. It was shown on ABC. They might as well do a remake of this movie. That is all hollywood is doing now.

This film doesn't need a remake; it's fine the way it is.
