I just listened to the dvd commentary for HORROR OF THE BLOOD MONSTERS by producer Sam Sherman and believe it or not he stated that this film made a profit at the box office.

I guess adding a few color scenes and tinting the black and white footage turned out to be a successful strategy. They got the movie in theaters.
