Sellers number 1

I grew up watching this guy as my Grandad was a huge fan of him, now at 22 I have started to collect his films, and this one was a great suprise to me, I always used to use mimic him as a child and when I started doing Performance at College I listed him as my biggest influence, and after watching Hoffman last night he went up a notch in my expectations, which I thought would be impossible, the man is a genius enough said.

I agree. This has long been THE Sellers movie in my books. Not to be missed! 10 out of 10.

I agree. It is my favourite, too. Strange that it is not more widely shown, although I suspect this is because of the theme of the film (or, to be more accurate, what people imagine the theme to be at first glance!) In fact, it is beautifully acted and incredibly moving. The only downside is Sinead Cusack's accent and diction - I wished the DVD had subtitles! But she looked gorgeous in this, one of her earlier films. Should be shown more often.

My favourite Sellers movie - he was brilliant throughout. Loved the theme song too.

Dear highrickman: Yes, I enjoyed Matt Monro's theme song very much as well. Then I went out and hunted down the 45' rpm. Not all that easy to find -- but well worth it.

I know!! I am 22 and have always loved Peter Sellers but this film brings out another side of him that people don't see much. It is a beautiful side and it really shows his strength as an actor. This film is beautiful!!
