Did they really clean and jerk barbells weighing 500 pounds?

No way. The world record clean and jerk (and they were really doing a clean and press, harder) is 580 pounds, set in 2004. I'd guess Arnold and the other guy could probably clean and press somewhere in the 300's maybe. Even so, those barbells in the movie were clearly something less.
