I hate this movie.

Anyone who enjoys seeing nice kids, through no fault of their own, being bullied and cowered by vicious hoodlums while simply attending their classes has severe problems himself.
No one comes off "nice" in this movie.

You have to remember that this shows how things were back then. This was the start of forced integration and people weren't happy about it. It was also the Civil Rights Era and there was a lot of racial tension in the country, despite the best efforts of reformers. It reflects the attitude of the times. It was also the height of the Vietnam War and the social upheaval that it caused.

Though this response is 5 years after the original post maybe someone will see it and be interested. So, algsmail, putting white kids in an all black school and having them suffer discrimination as you say, "through no fault of their own, being bullied and cowered by vicious hoodlums", was meant to show white folks, like me, what it was like for black kids to be sent to all white schools and suffer discrimination, "through no fault of their own." Get it?
