Is it just me or is this an underrated film?

I think James Earl Jones really shines in this film and it deserves more notice. Anyone agree?

Before I looked at the Special Features on the Norma Rae and saw a poster, I never knew this movie even existed. I don't think it's like this movie is not appreciated. Most people probably don't even know it exists.

reply

Because they don't visit IMDB.com - the best website ever.

reply

Yeah this movie is underrated and JEJ gives the best performance of his career !

Great film. Great play. Muhammad Ali saw this play (during his exile) and told JEJ that if you replaced the white woman with his religion that the GWH was HIS story. He loved the lines "Here I is...Here I is..Here I is!!!"

VERY under rated!

James Earl Jones shines?
He was BRILLIANT!
Once again, Hollywood was "afraid of the dark" and did not
give JEJ an Oscar, not even a nomination
for best actor in this outstanding film!

""""IT"""" says he got nominated. But I really thought (in my mind) that he had won it. He sure got a lot of fame for this role.

He should have won...and the film should be higher up the list. But, oh well, we all know that JEJ's role as DARTH VADER far outshines this (just look at IMDB top 250 and I'll bet you find Star Wars in that glorious list). Well, so very appropriate. Ignore this film and watch Star Wars. I'm sure it's much better a film than this. IMDB (""""IT"""") says so.

Sorry about you people think that IMDB is god. It's good, for entertainment value, but not god.

I found out about it because of how much it was sampled in the Vadar Sessions. Brilliant film, by the way.

I thought he kind of overplayed it, ala stage-acting, BUT he was playing a very dynamic, theatrical character, so...

The film is handsomely mounted and well-acted, especially Jones. However ... it just didn't quite emotionally grab me, surprising considering how quality a production it is.

Oh.
