That kid must be traumatized to this day..

Only Eraserhead can top the eerie nightmare-world vibe that Lynch was able to achieve with The Grandmother. I imagine that young kid must have been terrified. And if he wasn't scared to death, it's probably only because his brain wasn't developed enough to grasp the pure hell that Lynch was creating. Regardless, he did an excellent job.. Along with that Grandmother, who was supposed to be his salvation, but she freaked me out even more.

Anytime I want someone to leave my apartment, I will put this on. Few people can stomach the whole 22 minutes. A good friend of mine and my sister (who bought me the dvd), were at my place watching this at they were both scarred for life. Another reason I love and respect David Lynch so much.

*Errrrr, I don't think that's a very nice thing to do, OP. You 'love and respect' David Lynch for psychologically scarring your sister for life? okaaaaayyyyy.....

I think the kid had time of his life on the set. David Lynch himself is nice and cool person.

Saw this flick online some years ago---it really tripped me the hell out, and I'm a grown woman. It's a really truly genuinely bizarre piece of surreal indie experimental filmmaking that's beyond weird even by early '70s standards (and having seen enough weird movies from that era to know how weird and bizarre as hell they could get, that's saying a hell of a lot, believe me.) It's like a silent film of a truly dark & disturbing nightmare (with a little bit of European influence) occasional sounds, and basically shows that Lynch was making weird as hell movies long before ERASERHEAD (which was a bizarre, and truly weird trip in itself, too.) Definitely worth watching if you love straight-up weird-a** films, and also worth showing to someone just to have them exclaim out loud, "WTF is this s***?" or just to freak people the hell out and cause them to question your sanity. Definitely not a date night movie, that's for sure, lol.
