Hi Angel,

I posted the following question to the "I need to know" message board. Someone guessed that the movie I am looking for is "Goodbye Gemini". Obviously you know the film. Can you confirm that the below listed plot fragments would fit in?

You help is very much appreciated. Thanks

Karl

During a reunion of attendants of a summer school class we recalled some movies we saw in London's movie theaters during summer 1970.

One is left open and is hunting us. Some details as mostly agreed upon:

seen in a big movie theater near Picadilly, so our guess 1969 / 1968 production
remarkable good cinematography, color
no international actors probably
Probably contemporary London

Plot: kind of suspense, thriller (mystery?)

Two siblings (early twens or late teens), maybe orphans, stayed in a house with older relatives. During a night these relatives were killed (a lot of blood).
On their escape the girl was separated from her brother. On her run through London she finally got shelter in the townhouse of an older friend of the family (looked like a shrink, professor or teacher). For unknown reasons (guess she would not be safe at this place) she just stayed the night and was again on the run.

May be due to her bustling escape she was vested with trousers and shirt but barefooted. So after a certain time of roaming through the rainy streets she bought shoes and socks on a jumble market (this was well remembered because some of us believed to know the place where this scene was taken).

Now the real chase for the girl began (no details, anyway we were sure that a lot of tension occured)

We were not sure what happened to the brother (maybe later reunion) and maybe the older friend turned out to be a bad guy (but maybe was just supposed to be a bad guy)

Does anyone remember the title of this movie. Help very much appreciated.

The short description of the plot resembles a film I saw at a drive-in in 1970. It was a British horror-comedy film about a weird London family. The film was titled "Mumsy, Nanny, Sonny and Girly"; AKA: "Girly". The film was in colour and screened in 1969. Check the title in imdb to see if it matches your memory of the film.

I've watched it and it's brilliant! I'm one of only 23 people to have seen it since it was in the cinema! Now all we need is a petition so that somebody like Anchor Bay could give it the release it needs

I was disappointed to read in the latest issue of 'Dark Side' magazine that the proposed release of this film is still nowhere near finalised due to the usual 'rights' issue. Mumsy, Nanny, Sonny and Girly is in the same boat.

I recently bought a VHS copy of Goodbye Gemini (US title Twinsanity) from Amazon.com, second hand. It was NTSC but most recent-ish British VCRs can handle these anyway. I can recommend this route for anybody who wants to see the film anytime soon as it only cost me about £8 including postage.

The film itself was as odd as you might expect. Great performances from Potter & Geeson along with the very competent supporting cast. It's an interesting film and you wont have seen anything like it - however it's not the bloodbath that some people think it's going to be (no bad thing).

Amazon.com have an official DVD release of Feb 2010 ! Pre-ordered mine it's from a company called Scorpion releasing and may have special features like commentary ect. I can't wait as I resisted watching an old VHS tape that would have been in pan and scan, glad I did, all good things come to those who wait.
