How stupid do you have to be get security by hiring the Hell's Angels and paying them in beer? I'm not trying to troll here. And don't tell me it was a "more innocent" time, I think the Angels had been around for a long time before that. I mean- it might be the worst idea I've ever heard of, no exaggeration. Paying the Hell's Angels in beer? Jesus.

Look it up, the Grateful Dead had used them before at free concerts in Golden Gate Park without an incident. The real mistake was the tiny stage! They needed a huge stage like at Woodstock. I mean, that was a serious Spinal Tap moment, like when the elves were trying not to trod upon the 18" Stonehenge.
