Way more enjoyable in memory

I sincerely doubt anyone will understand why I enjoy such a silly movie. Here's why, I was five or six years old when I saw it, and it twisted my little around. I can care less now about how ignorant it is, it made me think, and kept me up late at night. I think it is hundred million times better than any Micheal Moore lefty pandering nonsense. Heck, at least drivel was entertaining, not insulting. Of course I was very young. They don't serve up enough of this drivel, and it's a shame. We live in world that can afford to be shaken, and maybe everything in this film was wrong, but it was such a revelation to watch at the time. My hope is that it can be revived in some fashion. Perhaps even something devoted to the true mysteries of the universe, and done as a film. The greatest scene was in the desert where the crew used the last of their water "right" to uncover the wall alien cave man drawing. You just don't get that in todays movies.

Lots of interesting bits in this movie- I also liked the beginning with the reenactment of the reclusive tribal guys that fashioned a straw mock plane in honor of the modern pilots.

was absolutely erie, and like many other things the film was crafted with a self contained logic. it had way more menace than the Blair Witch Project because it left these huge questions that it raised unanswered. i thought how can they show this film and not the president comment on it. of course i was seven or so at the time, but man it was so cool

Tell me... was this the documentary where the tribal men are all sitting around a camp fire doing some kind of tribal stuff, and they're all wearing cheap polyester wigs??

Brilliant!! I have to track down a copy of this film. I haven't had a good laugh in ages!!

reply

Yep that's it, cheap wigs and all. Some scenes of this pseudo-science documentary are so tackily 'staged' it's almost painful to watch but depending on your frame of mind you'll find that this movie is either quite amusing and entertaining or just dumb and insulting. Yep, this is '70s cheese at it's best...(or worst?).

...and your suffering will be legendary even in Hell!!

personally i dont think it is silly
but turning the world upside-down and accept new theories is harder for some than others

all in all: your are intitled to your opinion

And thank you for allowing me to be entitled to my own opinion!

This film is fascinating. FULL of UDDER BS, but fascinating none the less.
Actually, I read the book, and the book puts up a better case then this movie. This movie was just felt like Mondo Cane 3.
Trust me,

'every new technology that happens before you are 30 is awesome, every new invention that happens after you turned 30 is scary'

Of course you liked stuff you saw when you were 6 or 7 years old, that is just how the human mind works. At that age you are juuuuust old enough to think it's incredibly awesome to know something your parents don't, but not yet old enough to immidiately call *beep* on crazy theories and obvious audience-manipulations.

I don't think it's silly. It's just speculation about some strange things on earth that are hard to explain. That doesn't mean it has an Alien explanation, it's one of many possible explanations. It's an interesting movie no matter what you believe. It's entertaining just to see some of these wondrous sights of odd things on this planet.
