Today this film is playing in a small art movie theatre in Skopje, Macedonia. I can't wait to see it :)

I just got it from Amazon, with/without russian subtitles. I could follow the dialogue (virtually intact) with an english translation of the play downloaded from Project Gutenberg. Enjoy!!!

Seagull Films is the only programming, distribution and promotional company in North America solely specializing in art, independent and innovative cinema from contemporary Russia and the former Soviet Union.

Due to the long lasting Cold War, despite many filmmakers' worldwide success, distribution of their work in North America has been disproportionately sparse in comparison with other film cultures.

The mission of Seagull Films is to close this gap by bringing Soviet and Russian masterpieces to North American audiences and film professionals providing them with the rare opportunity of discovering this often overlooked cinema in the most optimal viewing experience upon the big screen.

Anton Chekhov's masterpiece about the breakdown of a family held together by a tissue of lies and self-deceptions is brought to stunning life in this adaptation.

Imbued with powerful symbolism, Konchalovsky's film features an all-star cast including Innokenti Smoktunovsky as Uncle Vanya, Irina Miroshnichenko as Yelena and Sergei Bondarchuk as Dr Astrov.
