Why the aspect ratio?
I'm puzzled why this movie had the full frame aspect ratio of 1:33:1? After all the year was 1970 and as far as I've heard after Kurosawa found the widescreen format he was very fond of using it in all of his films.
shareI believe it had something to do with the way he disliked the color distortion of anamorphic lenses, something he was able to expertly compensate for with his future films.
