Susie Kendall playing both Vangie and Merimay sort of wrecked the movie. They should have gotten a lookalike actress to play someone acting as her double. Having the same person imitating herself insults the viewer's intelligence.

In the novel Vangie was Eurasian, with black hair. The process of McGee and Meyer finding a different woman to pretend to be her, doing the makeover, and getting the body language and voice right was more detailed and interesting than in the movie.
