Hip hip hip hurray for fat!

I'm sorry, but this movie is hilarious. When the dude is singing the song about how you shouldn't be afraid to grow up and out "don't be afraid to grow up and out, that's what life is all about" and "hip hip hip hurray for fat" - c'mon! How can you not find this fascinating? LOL Reminds me of the classic "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" written by the esteemed Roger Ebert.

Bright colors, a rockstar and the plump rich girl. That was enough for me...

Strange, strange movie indeed. Definitely pretty on MGM HD, for all its weirdness.

Poor Holly Near--stuck playing "the fat chick" in this and another subterranean counterculture classic "The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart." No wonder she decided she was a radical feminist lesbian for a few years thereafter. (It would have been more convincing had she actually stayed one, though.)

Holly Near also played another rotund groupie in THE TODD KILLINGS (1970), in which she hung out with a Mansonesque "family." For a feminist folksinger, she sure made her share of exploitation flicks.
