A persecuted minority. The Euro Christians had already cut their teeth on religious cleansing before the Jews arrived in northern Europe in significant numbers.

I thought the witches' character were fairly well developed, even to the point of being sympathetic. Overall, this isn't a great film, but it isn't a horrible one either.

Equating the "old religion" with Satanism was a stupid move, I think, and only serves to reinforce Paganist/witchcraft stereotypes.
