a different theory of what's going on in this movie **contains spoilers*

The Crucible of Horror (aka The Corpse) was found in a 100 Horror Movies box set that my boyfriend got for Christmas. We watched it a few days ago, but something is nagging at me about the plot. There have been some good theories already posited in the reviews. Who was playing who? There is a sense that wife had tried to kill her husband before, with this latest attempt having her draw in her daughter to help. All attempts have failed. Would you consider this: what do you think of the idea that the father is a vampire. I have no idea how he could have fathered the children, but just say he wasn't the father. I know this is a stretch in the plot, but everything would fall into place if this were the case. Thoughts? Obviously the questions remain but I think the way it was left open to wonder is one of the best parts of this horror thriller!

I found the explanation to be very simple: watch the very last shot in the movie. Check out the expression on the daughter's face (she's not scared, she's bored--she's been through this before) and then check out the make-up job on the mother's face.

The mother is dead. This is her hell. No matter how often she tries to kill her husband, and no matter how often she succeeds, he just pops right back up again. So she has to start rolling that boulder up the mountain again...
