Scary Movie

This movie scared the Bejeepers (whatever the hell they are!) out of me when I was a child. Escpeccially the crushing scene where Ms. Lange is crushed beneath a ton of stones by the townspeople! Funny, when I recently saw this flick, I couldn't believe how tame it seemed. Ah, the joys of Childhood.

"I hope you had one hell of a piss, Arnold!"

Where did you see this movie and how can you tell me to get my hands on a copy of it??? I saw it as a kid too in the 70's and it too scared the hell out of me.

It's been on cable pretty frequently. LIFETIME shows it occassionally.

I also remember this film from childhood...I saw it in the UK sometime around 73 or 74 and I remember it was so scary...I loved witches so I had special dispensation to stay up and watch it. what were our parents thinking when we were obviously all so scared!

Ooooohhhh! The scariest parts were when Hope Lange realized that "they're all in it"! Just when she saw that the townspeople planned to place the stones on her!

And little Cindy Eilbacher was such an evil little witch! I was only 10 years old, but I could sense the evil that was happening.

I think that's the key to the scariest parts of "witch" movies. When the protagonist realizes that "they're all in it".

As I posted on another thread, another scary movie from the "ABC Movie of the Week" genre was "Black Noon" with Roy Thinnes and Yvette Mimeux. Old Hank Worden as Joseph creeped the hell out of me when I was a kid.

Crowhaven Farm scared the hell out of me as a child. I was raised on horror filsm every weekend on late night TV. My grandmother being a fan of Hope Lange at the time decided we should watch this late one evening.

The Young girl teasing her about how the husband is hers.. just seemed so creepy and wrong to me as a kid.
Then the whole pressing scene just made me cringe.
Nightmares galore from this and the original The Last Prom.

You mean the scene where the little girl is in bed with the husband? They both have pajamas on of course, but the scene has a layer of sexuality, as if she intends to seduce the grown man. I agree it was very uncomfortable and would never make it past the censors in 2009.

You mentioned in your review of Black Noon at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066836/reviews that you were not sure of the title of a Movie of the Week in the 1970s that starred Lesley Ann Warren, Peter Haskell, and Ryan O'Neal.

It was Love Hate Love from 1971 at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066008

Yeah, it's funny how tame movies can be now that scared you to death as a child!! My movie was "Brides of Dracula." I saw it as a kid on the late show and thought it was the scariest thing I'd ever seen. Seeing it as an adult, I can point out all the flaws (such as the vampire girl's white makeup ending at her hairline, very obvious) and wonder why I thought it was so good.

Crowhaven Farm scared me to death as a kid--whenever Hope Lange looks to her friend in the car and that friend is ONE OF THEM...well, I lost sleep for weeks!!

Great, scary movie!!

That is the scene which scared me so much too! I had nightmares about it, to the point that my parents decided I couldn't watch any more scary movies.
