Any other good 1970's horror Movies Of The Week?

Here are the ones I remember from my childhood:
Crowhaven Farm
Something Evil
Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark
Five Desperate Women
Harvest Home
Black Noon
Duel

Anyone know of any others?

A good horror movie from that period that was not a made for TV movie is The Possession Of Joel Delaney. It was very scary.

Yeah, the Harvest Home novel was definitely better, but I liked the miniseries when I saw it. I was about 17. I remember about half of the movies you mentioned.

There was a TV movie about a guy who lived out in the desert somewhere, and there was a crack in the ground, and all these mutated cockroaches would come out. Maybe he was a scientist. Whatever the case, he learned to communicate with them. They could spell on the walls. But in the end they became evil or something. Do you know what that movie was?

Another film about some evil mirror, with someone or something that lives on the other side and crosses into our world. It scared me when I was 11 or 12.

I wish you could remember the mirror one -- sounds scary.

Mirrors are scary in the dark if you look into them long enough.

The early '70s were rife with good supernatural thrillers -- try the entire series 'Ghost Story.' (c. 1971-1973)

I believe you're thinking of Don't Go To Sleep. It aired in 1982 and really creeped me out.

The entry is here:

This movie was called "Fear No Evil" and starred Louis Jourdan, Bradford Dillman, and a young Lynda Day before the George. It was made in 1969 and was very scary. It can also be found at your local Ebay or Ioffer.

There was also a sequel to this movie called "Ritual of Evil" that starred Louis Jourdan, Anne Baxter, Diana Hyland, Belinda Montgomery and a few others you might reconginize. That was in 1970.

Reply to lordofthelake -- I don't know what the movie is, but it sounds a lot like a typical day at my office. Especialy the mutated cockroaches.

"All The Kind Strangers": Stacy Keach and Samantha Eggar are held hostage by a group of backwoods hillbilly kids (not to mention a menacing dog) who want them to be their "parents"

"Night Terror": Valerie Harper witnesses a maniac gunning down a state trooper on a lonely stretch of interstate and is chased into the night by the killer.

What about A Taste of Evil (1971) with Barbara Parkins and Barbara Stanwyck? Another one that I remember from that era is She Waits with Patty Duke. Both scared me as a child but don't know what they would be like today. Another one that I'd like to see again is The Eyes of Charles Sand (1972) with Peter Haskel and Joan Bennett. Anybody remember any of these?

reply

I remember "She Waits" scaring me to death. But I found it at Blockbuster (the VHS) years later, and it was okay but not as frightening as I remember it.

Don't forget:

Don't Go To Sleep
Bad Ronald

There's one I remember that was very scary but I only remember the ending. A young woman was terrorized by something supernatural and thought it was all over. It ends with her standing in a church getting married. Her new husband turns to her and his eyes are blanked out white spaces -- and she realizes he's one of "them" and starts screaming. The wedding guests turn out to be "them" too. Anyone know what movie it was?

I believe you are thinking of "The Devil's Daughter" a 1973 tv movie. It had a very good cast Belinda Montgomery, Robert Foxwoth, Shelley Winters and Joseph Cotten. It's available on dvd.
I wish they would release more of the tv movies made around that time.
