Purchasing women in Medieval Europe....

How accurate is this detail of the story? At one point, the Countess' henchman just buys a girl from a street corner vendor. What was the timeframe of this movie anyways? The synopsis says "Medieval." At one point, I believe the Countess made a reference to a Renaissance painter. The overall look, to my eyes was more early Modern era.

i'd say that was pretty accurate..it's still done today albeit not from street vendors. i'd go with renaissance to. definitely not medieval

In terms of ages, I guess it depends on your definitions. The medieval period is usually considered to be up until the mid-15th century, while the renaissance is often considered to encompass the 14th to 16th (or 17th) centuries. The real-life Elizabeth Bathory lived from 1560 to 1614. I'd say she lived after what we'd normally think of as medieval times ... but not by much.
