I always felt this was one of his best movie roles. The rest of the cast was good but he was outstanding and it was kind of an offbeat role for him. I thought he should have deserved serious oscar consideration for this performance.

I AGREE 100% not only was LEE VAN CLEEF superb and Oscar material but Jim Brown
and Marianna Hill were magnificent and masterful in their superb roles.
Marianna Hill was a beautiful, talented and memorable actress.
Even though it was a western Lee Van Cleef had an offbeat role for him and he was magnificient.
shareVan Cleef was very good but hardly Oscar worthy. Jim Brown couldn't act his way out of a paper bag, and this film was one of the lesser efforts of his movie career.
If all it takes for an actor to be magnificent is to strip and stand naked in front of a window, then Marianna Hill was magnificent.
I really don't get the regard for this film. It just doesn't compare to other westerns of the 70's.

Yeh i agree with latigoMeans .. im love these type of films and even tho it was watchable ! Its def not up there with other films of the genre and the acting is so so at best ! And have to say i didnt really like the off the wall character van cleef played here ... he is much better when playing the serious, vengeful types !
