When Christopher Lee

is not on screen, this movie is HORRIBLY bad! Spaghetti Dracula below mediocre level. Christopher Lee's performance is excellent though. The music, the camera shots, the unnecessary zooms, the bad blood, plastic bats... just awful.

Watch the 1930 version with Bela Lugosi. It is ten times better than this crap. Isn't it amazing that the popularity of film made it possible for mainstream people to create even worse films 40 years later.

Did you tell LUKE..? Is THAT who you could tell??

I'm inclined to agree, though Klaus Kinski was very good as well. This is a very cheap-looking film that doesn't hold up as a thriller or even camp. It's just flat.

These "flaws" you point out are just part of Franco's aesthetics. I wouldn't appreciate his films if they were polished and mainstream-like.

What a ridiculous, ill informed and totally clueless review ! It doesn't actually make much sense either and it's obvious you just don't understand Franco's work. Franco was using Punk style aesthetics and attitude years before it was fashionable, and you should view his films with that in mind, assuming that you even understand this of course. I'm not saying he hasn't made crap, he's made plenty since the 1980's - though even his worst films have a certain something about them - it's just that this film isn't crap at all. Franco 'mainstream' ? I don't thinks so ! And the music awful ????? You must be completely mental !!! Bruno Nicolai is widely regarded as one of the great soundtrack composers of the 60's and 70's ! He workd with the maestro Morricone for years ffs !
