No, you're not wrong. I read an interview by Lee where he clearly states that from all the Dracula fims he made, this is his favorite one, for it was the only time he had the chance to play the Count as Stoker described him in the book. His second favorite was the first he ever made, in 1958: Horror of Dracula (or Dracula, as it is known internationaly).

That's an interesting fact. Definitely not my favorite Dracula film Christopher Lee was in but if he liked it then that's what matters.

Christopher Lee would have pleased to play a Dracula nearer to Stoker's creation. This Franco effort came third in a run-down of Dracula movies that came nearest to be an authentic interpretation of the book. It came behind the BBC 1977 and the Coppola's versions.
